LATE MAY'S BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!A recent heat wave of two days in 90F weather made angling difficult. The following pictures tell a story of a client who had booked during the heat wave, upon my suggestion of fishing a small river with heavy spring influence and a long lasting shade line on the Eastern bank provided outstanding action on dry flies and nymphs, we starting angling at 5 AM sharp and off the water by 11 AM, three guided days provided about 25-30 fish per day....most fish were all 4"-6" in length and all either native brookies or wild browns....the bonus was the possibility of large wild browns in certain deep holes....my client made a good choice of the small river verses the larger river. Wait.....there's more to the story!!!! The second day of guiding on the small river we witnessed and enjoyed a dragon fly hatch of immense proportions!!!!With the dragon fly nymphs crawling along the river to hatch on exposed rocks and logs I instructed my client to dead drift a # 8 Ausable Ugly in the deepest holes searching for large wild browns feeding on the drgon fly nymphs....the pictures below tell the rest of the story.
