START OF 2010 SEASON
Land Locked Atlantic Salmon from Lake Champlain's tributaries !!!!
This is my second day of the 2010 season.
1.25.10 witnessed a very warm day with temps in the mid 40sF although the rain was falling side ways and wind gusts of 25MPH.
The above mentioned weather conditions made for challenging angling conditions with a rapidly rising discolored water and large ice shelves flowing by I managed to hook and land 1 Landlocked Atlantic Salmon and miss yet another.....as the river conditions deteriorated the angling became unsafe and unproductive, thus wanting to fish another day this lifetime I promptly left.

This my 1st day of the 2010 season, starting 1.18.10.
Deciding upon snowboarding or fly fishing for the day, I went fly fishing for land locked salmon, with warm conditions this decision
made the most sense...upon hooking 4 salmon and landing 3, the day was a major success.
The salmon took a #8 Ausable Ugly dead drifted near the bottom and a #4 classic white bucktail very slow retrieved near the bottom.

Pictured are 6 different land locked salmon caught and released from the Saranac River, the fish were taken by slowly stripping a #4 classic white bucktail streamer .
When I first approached the river, I had hopes of sight fishing to resting fish, upon no sightings I fished as though I was fishing for very late brown trout, only targeting slow water and the very tail end of each slow run or pool I encountered....here are the results!!!!!!
